For those seeking more than the stale holiday regulars on their season playlists, Isabelle Fries has three holiday songs to break up the monotony.
A newer mainstay of holiday music, Fries released “Winter Days” as the title track of the 2017 Hallmark original movie, “A Royal Winter.” She followed it up with two more holiday tracks in 2019 and 2020, titled “With a Bow” and “Hello Christmas” respectively. Her bright voice layered over pop-y acoustic melodies create the perfect pairing for a snowy—and even unseasonably warm—December evening at home.
“I have always loved Christmas music, ever since I was a little girl. It was and is one of the most magical aspects of the holidays for me and it always brings me back to my childhood,” Fries said. “So making Christmas music has always been such a fun part of what I do and I love that I can hopefully bring that same magic to others.”
Born in Australia but Denver-grown, Fries began her music journey at seven years old with voice lessons. She continued her voice lessons at the University of Southern California under Adriana Baltic, a backup vocalist and keyboardist for P!nk. Currently, she’s working with producer and mixer Rob Chiarelli, who has won multiple Grammy awards working with artists such as Will Smith, Janet Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Christina Aguilera among others. With the help of co-writers The Highfields and Seth Baer, Fries has over 1.4 million streams on Spotify and 4 million views on YouTube.
Despite amassing nearly twenty thousand monthly listeners on Spotify, Fries still teaches middle school in between releasing new material. She has an interest in Ugandan activism, launching the Bulamu Raise Your Voice Community Foundation, which provides support to Ugandan schools. Fries is also present in other areas of activism, such as HIV and AIDS prevention and awareness and swimming and water safety.
Fries’ music, both holiday and non-holiday, can be found on all major platforms such as Spotify, iTunes and Apple Music. She is also present on YouTube. Her next single will be released in the early part of 2022.
